First on the scene!

This year alone (2022), I have failed on writing blogs throughout the year! I didn’t exactly set a goal of writing more, but I personally know in order to get specific jobs as a documentary photographer that I really need to practice writing. I decided to end the year with a blog dedicated to my mother!

After helping get the young man (sitting in the grass) out of his car, My mother (far left) was going back to again check on the other person that was involved.

This particular story takes place in August 2022 in Enid, Oklahoma!

Every year, near the end of the Summer, I and a passenger (this year, my mother) met my child’s father halfway between Texas and Missouri to pick up my child! This Summer was no different!

After a few hours of driving, we ended up meeting at a local Walmart in Enid, Oklahoma and then we’d go our separate ways. I had arrived at Walmart first and decided to grab food but immediately changed my mind, cause...you know, I’m a mom and I’d easily feel bad not grabbing my child something, so instead I walked into Walmart and grabbed a few road snacks.

After picking up my son and loading his items into the truck, we head out back to where everything’s bigger! Texas!

As a collective, the three of us agreed to grab something to eat before hitting the highway. Freddy’s Steakburgers it is! There was no long line as I eased around the curve of the drive thru, so this quick grab and go shouldn’t take long. As we were making our way up to the intercom, I looked to the back seat to make sure my son was aware of the menu and told me what he wanted.

Windows down! I begin ordering food for the three of us. In the middle of my order, we all hear a loud BOOM! As my mother looks at me and yells, “What was that!?” we both see a lady across the street running for safety due to the loud BOOM! I drove up just a little for my mom to see on her side that it was wreck between two cars, she immediately instructs me to keep ordering our food as she’s already halfway out the car!

As instructed, I ordered our food and drove to the next window to receive our order! My son and I both see my mom run towards the street, stop the oncoming cars in both directions and makes her way to one car that spun to the other side of the street next to a small business! A young man from the small business comes out (he already called 911) and checks on the lady with my mother and she asks him to bring her some water as she calms down the young lady who is slowly having a panic attack! Once my mother calms down the young lady and gets her out the car, she then races to the middle of the street to check on the man who was still in his car with his head down, not moving…but it turns out he was looking for his glasses! She was able to help him out of his car and slowly walk him to the side of the street to have a seat in the grass after hitting his head!

The ambulance and police arrived quickly! The father of the man involved in the accident also arrived!

After realizing that young man had family on the scene, my mother went back one last time to check on the young lady near the small business to again make sure that she was ok!

I just wanted to mention that this all happened within a matter of minutes and the ambulance and police arrived quickly!

My mother has shared with me plenty of stories where she has helped people and given CPR too, so to actually see her in action, I was literally amazed and a tad emotional!

Love you, mom!💜💜💜
