The Shrine Bowl: East vs West
Hey Family!
Just wanted to come through with a journey update!
Also, Happy Black History Month!
As most of you may know, or the ones who have been keeping up with my journey! I’ve been trying to transition to shooting more sports and head that way professionally…
Recently, I was accepted to shoot the The Shrine Bowl: East vs West located in Frisco, Texas at The Star where the Dallas Cowboys train.
Well, that day actually came on February 1st, 2024 so Happy Black History Month to me!
Just an FYI, I am also an introvert and when I am stepping into unknown territory with people that I know absolutely nothing about, I tend to become nervous, anxious and overthink things. I’m only mentioning that information because I also worked my 9-5 job and as it became closer to leaving work, I began to get more anxious…
BUT…I left work early to make sure I was good!
(AFTER WORK…)
………………………………………………………
Straight from work, I headed down to Frisco, found a parking spot, double checked everything I had on me (cameras, media pass, batteries, etc.) and made it through security. I walked around the arena a few times to find the box office entrance to retrieve my media vest. To be fair, I have never placed foot in The Star so after a few fails on where to go, I finally asked for some help and eventually made my way to the box office.
While retrieving my vest, I ran into another young man who looked just as lost as I was and clung right onto him!…See being an introvert, I tend to find someone to “buddy” up with until I become comfortable enough in the new environment to make my own moves/choices. He also introduced me to someone he has met before so I was 2 new friends in that night!
When I made it down to the field, there was literally an hour and 30 minutes until showtime! So, I grabbed my 2 cameras and corrected my settings to adjust to the dark lighting of the arena! I did struggle a bit with one of the lenses, but I was able to get everything that I needed out of it.
……..
After warming up and controlling the overwhelming feeling, I was good to go!
Below is a few images that I caught throughout the day and the cameras/lenses that I had with me!
Enjoy!
Cameras: FujiFilm XH1 & FujiFilm XH2
Lenses: 10-24mm, 50-140mm, 100-400mm
****I also want to note that I may have been the only one on the field shooting with FujiFilm!
Also, thank you the 2 fellow photographers who lended me a hand and also gave me advice! Kevin & Nicole! THANK YOU!
